What to wear to your spring photo session in Austin
Choosing how to style your family for your spring photography session can be daunting, especially in Austin where the weather can change on a dime. Mix the unpredictable weather with wrangling your children into formal clothing and you might start to think it’s not worth the trouble. My advice is always: prioritize comfort! Your Austin spring photography session may not turn out as well as you’d like if you and your family are uncomfortable.
A good place to start is with choosing outfits for the grownups, and then sifting through the kids’ closets to see if there is something that will work for them that they already wear. Khaki bottoms are a great wardrobe staple for the whole family, but my rule of thumb is that less than 50% of the family should wear them at once! Other great wardrobe staples are polos, button-downs, and ruched dresses. You can never go wrong with cowboy boots in Texas!
I like to choose breezy, natural materials like cotton, linen, or even hemp for warm spring weather. For my spring 2024 style inspiration board, I’ve chosen light blues, beiges, clean whites, and muted pink tones for the whole family. If you’re dealing with chillier temperatures, you can always layer up in the same color family, or add in denim jackets. White denim jackets can look great against the backdrop of our Austin wildflowers and spring foliage.
